Ramadan Quotes!

I'm going to bring you some quotes from different Imams and important people in Islam about the month of Ramadan.
Our 8th Imam, Imam Redha (peace be upon him) has said: If they asks, "Why is it that the fasts were made obligatory extensively in the month of Ramadhan and not in the other months?" it should be said, "Because the month of Ramadan is the month in which Allah, The Exalted, had revealed the Qur’an."
In this very special and holy month, Allah brought down to us the Quran, which was revealed as a whole book on Laylat Ul Qadr. There is also another hadith by Imam Redha saying: One, who recites one verse from the Book of Allah (Quran), The Mighty The Glorious, in the month of Ramadhan, is like one, who has recited the entire Qur’an in the other months.
The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Surely, the month of Ramadan is a great month. Allah, multiplies in it the good deeds, erases in it the sins and elevates in it the ranks.
It is said that during this month, the doors of hell are shut and the doors of heaven are wide open.
The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) said:  The month of Ramadhan is the month whose fasts Allah, The Mighty, The Glorious, has made obligatory upon you. So one, who fasts in this month in a state of belief and with the intention of recompense, shall become free of his sins just as he was on the day when his mother gave him birth.
We should all take advantage of this month of Ramadan by making sure we are doing as much good deeds as we can and refraining from doing any bad deeds because our souls are refreshed and free of any of our previous sins.
Imam Baqir (peace be upon him) has said: Surely, the Fridays of the month of Ramadhan possess an excellence over the Fridays of the other months, just as the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) possesses an excellence over the other prophets.
Hopefully throughout this holy month of Ramadan, you will contribute to doing many good deeds as possible and help others as much as you can.

I will try to post as regularly as possible so make sure you are following me to receive updates.

Ramadan - Why Do Muslims Fast?

Today's teaching will be about why Muslims fast during the month of Ramadan.
Firstly, I just want to start off by saying that it is very important to say 'The month of Ramadan' instead of 'Ramadan' because Ramadan is believed to be one of Allah's (99 names), so whenever you are talking about the holy month remember to say 'The month of Ramadan'.

Muslims fast during the month of Ramadan as it is what Allah has commanded them to do. It is written in the Quran -
O you who believe! Observing As-Sawm (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon (pious)”

[al-Baqarah 2:183]

Fasting is also believed to be one of the acts that Allah has prescribed Muslims to do as a test in their faith and see if they will obey. It helps Muslims remind themselves of the poor who rarely get to eat during the day whilst we just try to eat as much as we can and even sometimes waste food not thinking of those people that don't have any.
During the month of Ramadan many Muslims attempt to complete the whole Quran which has 604 pages and 30 chapters, so reading one chapter a day (which is 21 pages) you can easily finish the Quran in the month of Ramadan as you fast for 30 days.
The month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. Muslims fast from dawn until sunset and refrain from eating, drinking, smoking etc. Ramadan is a lunar month, it begins about 11 days earlier each year. During a Muslim's life, Ramadan will fall both during winter months, when the days are short, and summer months, when the days are long and the fast is more difficult. Also, during the month the doors of the heaven is open so reading Quran and dua's and doing good deeds will help allah accept us.

The Month of Ramadan Mubarak!
